TIAN DI 天地 | YAO 腰

Lumbar and Hip Dit Da Jow | 4 fl oz

The lumbar spine and hip are the pivot of the Di domain, the place where Heaven meets Earth and where structural collapse is most consequential. Kidney governs the lumbar; Liver governs the sinews that stabilize it. YAO is formulated around this dual relationship, with Du Zhong as the chief herb to tonify the Kidney-Liver axis and reinforce the bone and sinew of the lumbar region, supported by a robust blood-moving and wind-damp clearing layer for the subacute and chronic presentations that practitioners actually treat.

Du Zhong leads at 15%, tonifying the Kidney-Liver axis that governs the bone and sinew of the lumbar region. San Qi at 13% moves blood and disperses stasis through the paraspinal and gluteal tissue. Du Huo and Qiang Huo open the Du Mai the length of the spine, Du Huo leading because the lumbar is its home territory. Xu Duan, whose name means to reconnect what is broken, mends sinew and bone at the ligament and tendon attachments. Niu Xi descends and conducts the formula into the lower body. Wu Jia Pi dispels the wind-cold-damp behind the cold-stiff low back that worsens before rain, and strengthens bone while it does. Yan Hu Suo eases the pain, and Bing Pian opens the surface to carry the formula in.

Indicated for: Subacute and chronic lumbar and hip presentations from Day 3 onward. Lumbar muscle strain and ligament sprain past the acute phase, lumbar pain with channel-pattern referral into the gluteals and posterior leg, sacroiliac joint strain, piriformis tension along the bladder channel, hip joint and hip flexor sinew pain, chronic cold-stiff low back that worsens with cold and damp, and lumbar channel obstruction. Begin at Day 3, transitioning from CHONG.

Application: 3 to 5 sprays to the lumbar and gluteal region. Massage in firmly until absorbed. Two to three times daily. For cold-stiff, weather-sensitive low backs, follow with a warm compress for 20 to 30 minutes, since the wind-damp herbs work best with sustained warmth.
